Bittersweet - Song Written with Vienna 5th Grade (2015)

Bittersweet
Written by Todd Burge & Vienna Elementary 5th Graders June 1st 2015
http://toddburgeforkids.blogspot.com/

It’s graduation time
We’re moving on
Moving on
To the next step in our lives
Happy are we
As we leave here you see
But the leaving is a bit
Bittersweet – Bittersweet>>>>>>

Happy are we
As we leave here you see
But the leaving is a bit
Bittersweet
The fourth graders will stay
And become the fifth grade
The third will be the fourth
And the second will be the third
The fifth will be the first
To get a taste of middle school
And that taste is a bit
Bittersweet - Bittersweet

Happy are we
As we leave here you see
But the leaving is a bit
Bittersweet

Our school has become
Sort of like a family tree
With branches reaching out
Yet rooted in our history

Happy are we
As we leave here you see
But the leaving is a bit
Bittersweet - Bittersweet

Happy are we
As we leave here you see
But the leaving is a bit
Bittersweet
But the leaving is a bit
Bittersweet

My Video Game Is Coming To Life - VIENNA - 4th Grade 2015

My Video Game Is Coming To Life

By Todd Burge with the Vienna Elementary 4th Grade Class June 1st 2015 Thanks for Artsbridge
http://toddburgeforkids.blogspot.com/

My video game is coming to life
My video game is coming to life
My Minecraft is blown
You heard me right
It was a bunch of pictures
And some organized light

Now it’s  jumpin’ on my bed
Petting my dog
Hoggin’ my phone
And sleepin’ like a log
Keepin’ me up
Makin’ me miss school
Acting like a friend
Who isn’t too cool

CHORUS

That dragon was a breathin’
Fake fire you see
There was no way of it hurtin’
Either you or me
But once it jumped out
Of my TV
It became a different game
You see?

My video game is coming to life
My video game is coming to life
My video game is coming to life

Reading Harry Potter on the Beach By Todd Burge & Mr. Tobar’s 5th Graders at Harmer Elementary

Reading Harry Potter on the Beach
By Todd Burge & Mr. Tobar’s 5th Graders at Harmer Elementary
5/26/2015
It’s the last day of school
And I feel lost in the woods
From some series of unfortunate events

I could talk to my parents
But I’m not sure they’d listen
So, I’ll just close my eyes and let my mind drift
I’ll close my mind and let my mind drift

I’m reading Harry Potter on the Beach
Worry free
Worry free

I’m reading Harry Potter on the Beach
Worry free
Worry free

Summer’s coming on
And I see some bummers long long gone
So I won’t plan ahead if I don’t have to

I have half of a mind to
Join up with you
As our two heads might make
A like mind before we’re through
A  like mind before we’re through

I’m reading Harry Potter on the Beach
Worry free
Worry free

Eating anything with bacon
That’s for me
Worry free
Worry free
Worry free

TRUE FRIENDS - Written with the 5th Grade class at Belpre Elementary 5/6/2015

True Friends
Written with the 5th Grade class at Belpre Elementary 5/6/2015

Everybody has a thought
Everybody has a want
We all want to have friends
True friends

Maybe share a Mountain Dew
Or an inside joke or two
We all want to have friends
True friends

Lonely, lonely
You’re not lonely anymore
Sadness has an end
When you have true friends

How does one make friends?
Well, by makin’ friends my friend
As you want it to be done to you
Well, do it unto them

Maybe joke about crazy snakes & beans
Or Mombo the toilet thief…………………??
We all want to have friends
True friends

There’s A Head in My Brother’s Closet
Written with the 3rd Grade class at Belpre Elementary 5/6/2015

There’s a head in my brother’s closet
A head a head
If you get caught in there’ll
Be trouble, you might be better off dead
I had to run away to get away
From this very tricky day
There's a head in my brothers closet
A head  a head

As you look in there
You'll see a scene
Worse than the worst of your dreams
If you open up his door
You’re gonna lose it for sure
So walk away on second thought
You ought to run instead
As there's a head and my brothers closet
A head a head

If you see mom tell her I'm sorry
And I'll never do it again
Until I do it again I mean, you know me
I tend to make mistakes
I'll try hard to be the best I can be but until then
There's a head in my brothers closet
And that head belongs to me
There's a head in my brothers closet
And it’s attached to the rest of me
And that head belongs to me.

Bring Todd Burge For Kids To Your School??

Songwriter Workshops and Concerts for Kids!

Creating original songs with your students that will last a lifetime!

Hello! My name is Todd Burge. I’m a touring Singer Songwriter who lives in Parkersburg WV. My original songs have taken me all over the U.S., performing venues including festivals, theatres, colleges, schools and music clubs, as well as The Kennedy Center, The Country Music Hall of Fame and repeat appearances on NPR’s Mountain Stage.
Over the last few years I’m proud to say that I have been part of the Artsbridge Catalog Program. Your school might currently be part of this fine program!
I would love to talk with you about coming to your school and writing a song with the kids and then performing the original work in concert! I always post the songs online along with free downloads and videos.
I can do workshops for one or two classes or the entire school.
If there isn't time for the workshop and show, we could just have the concert.
I could even "roam" from class to class performing a couple songs.

During my workshops and concerts, I talk a bit about songwriting, take questions from the kids and encourage them to sing along and even create their own music!
Below you will find links to some of the music I've written with my son and daughter who both attend Criss Elementary. You will also hear and see some music I have written with kids in the schools.
Feel free to call or email me and we’ll discuss this unique program.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Todd Burge
